WHAT HAVE BEEN ACCOMPLISHED:
JMEC has been structural engineer and construction manager for a 7 story reinforced concrete hotel building damaged by the Loma Prieta Earthquake in 1989. After the earthquake, City of San Francisco posted a "Limited Access" to the building. JMEC's responsibility was to design the emergency seismic repair measures required to change the "Limited Access" to "Unlimited Access", including the design of a new electrical vault and various sidewalk improvements.
The repair was carried out in conjunction with other construction work which include Parapet Safety compliance, a new electrical vault, removal of an underground gas tank, the renovation of 486 rooms, upgrade of existing plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and fire and life safety system.
